Dots and Digits,
Stats and Lines
Tragedies in passing shrugged off
as Signs of the times;
blinded by apathy
selfish I’s cannot see
what such atrocities
have to do with me;
but God has purpose
in every Design,
every Soul is given
predetermined destiny
with each and everyone connected
– stitches weaving together history
and the fabric of time;
every Casualty, every Loss
takes a toll, an unforeseen cost
dulling and darkening
the hearts of humanity
and forever altering
our final tapestry;
therefore in every report
of life cut short
that I read or hear:
I know
that upon my own toe
is a tag for every fallen Doe,
and I lament
……. with a hope, a prayer, a tear.

Perhaps better said by a poet greater than me:

No Man Is An Island

No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
